MUMBAI: After former President Pranab Mukherjee attended an RSS function in Nagpur last month, ace industrialist Ratan Tata too is scheduled to share the dais with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at an event of RSS affiliate organization in Mumbai next month.
Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti (NPSS) is an NGO dedicated to service of patients, which is named after RSS Pracharak Nana Palkar. NPSS has its 10 storied premises near the Tata cancer hospital in Mumbai and had been serving primarily the patients from the Tata hospital.
"Since we are connected with the Tata hospital and draw inspiration from the RSS, we thought that it would be appropriate to invite Mr Tata and Bhagwat for the program," said a senior functionary of NPSS on condition of anonymity.
"Our work is known to Mr Tata. He had visited our premises a few years back. Hence we decided to invite him for the concluding ceremony of golden jubilee of the NPSS, which also happens to be the concluding ceremony of centenary year celebrations of Nana Palkar," the functionary added.
Formal announcement of the program that is scheduled to take place on August 24 is likely to be made soon, he said.
Tata had visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur around two years back on his birthday.
"That time Tata had spent around 2.5 hours understanding the grass-root level work of the RSS from Mohan Bhagwat. The Tata trusts had later helped the RSS to develop first state of the art cancer hospital in central India in Nagpur first phase of which was inaugurated last year," said state BJP spokesperson Shaina NC who had accompanied Tata to Nagpur on his visit to RSS headquarters.
