Cop killed in militant attack in Srinagar-Jammu national highway

SRINAGAR: A policeman was killed and two others were injured as militants fired upon a police vehicle near Gallandar on Srinagar-Jammu national highway today, police said.

The militants fired upon the police vehicle near Gallandar in Pampore area of the city, a police official said.

He said in the firing, three policemen suffered injuries.

The injured cops were taken to a hospital where one of them - Constable Tanveer Ahmad - died, the official said.

He said the other two policemen are being treated upon.

A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the attackers, the official said.
