Uttar Pradesh: Eight killed, four injured in road mishap

At least eight people were killed and four were seriously injured today after the vehicle carrying members of a marriage party collided with a motorcycle and fell in a ditch in Kaushambi.

KAUSHAMBI: At least eight people were killed and four were seriously injured today after the vehicle carrying members of a marriage party collided with a motorcycle and fell in a ditch in Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh, a police official said.

According to Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Gupta, the accident happened around 11.00 am in Raksera village.

Following the collision with the motorcycle, the jeep driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell in the ditch.

Both men riding on the motorcycle and six people on the jeep died at the spot.

Another four on the jeep were injured.

The deceased have been identified as Rathlal (35), Roshni (18), Sajan (11), Gorelal (30), Nanku (50), Gulshan Ali (18), Motilal (50).

The driver, around 26, was yet to be identified.

Gupta said the injured have been hospitalised while the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
