Rapist of 14-month-old girl in Gujarat arrested

Police said the accused might have fled away from Gujarat due to post-rape violence in the western state.

BUXAR: Police has arrested the alleged rapist of a 14-month-old girl in Gujarat under Dhansoi police station area in Bihar`s Buxar district last night.

Sub-divisional police officer Satish Kumar said here today that one Anil Kumar (22) facing an accusation of raping a 14-month-old girl in Sabarkantha in Gujarat was arrested from his hideout on the basis of surveillance of the outlaw`s mobile phone.

He said the outlaw was absconding after committing the heinous crime.

Mr Kumar said the accused might have fled away from Gujarat due to post-rape violence in the western state.

He said the accused had returned to his native village after moving from one place to another for the last few days.

As it is, non-Gujaratis particularly people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were attacked after a 14-month-old girl was raped in Sabarkantha in Gujarat on September 28.
