RAIPUR: At least four jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in an attack by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s strife-torn Bijapur district, about 350 km south of Raipur, on Saturday.

“The troopers were out on regular area-domination and road-opening operations when the Naxalites triggered a powerful improvised explosive device (IED), targeting the bunker vehicle of the CRPF’s 168th battalion. Four jawans were killed on the spot,” Bastar range Inspector General of Police Vivekanand Sinha said, describing the attack at Basaguda. “After the blast, the rebels opened fire, which was swiftly retaliated.”
