BHOPAL: Artificial Intelligence (AI) based e-check gates are being established in Madhya Pradesh to stop illegal transportation of minerals in the state, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said on Thursday.

Vehicles involved in mineral transportation will be monitored using varifocal cameras, RFID readers, and automatic number plate recognition systems at the 41 e-check gates being set up across the state.

As a pilot project, work has already started by installing e-check gates at 4 places on an important route for mineral transportation.

Command and Control Centres have been established at the state level in Bhopal, along with District Command Centres in Bhopal and Raisen districts, to monitor and prevent illegal transportation. The target is to establish all 41 e-check gates by 2024-end.

According to the MP CM, a satellite and drone-based project has also been started to prevent illegal mining in the state. Through this, all 7,000 mines in the state have been geo-tagged and the mine area has been marked off.

When this project is fully implemented, illegal mining can be identified and effectively prevented. The quantity of excavated minerals can be accurately assessed by doing 3-D imaging and volumetric analysis inside the approved mine.
