Music director-turned-feature film director, Ravi Basrur has an interesting connect with the number 13, which was recommended by his team on Saturday when Puneeth Rajkumar launched the trailer of his upcoming film Kataka in 13 languages -  Kannada, Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu, Konkani, Kodava, Assamese, Beary, Punjabi and Marathi. Interestingly, the film, which has received an U/A rating, will be released on October 13.

“I was surprised when my team apprised me that even my last two films in Kundapura Kannada were released on the 13th. I heard it is an unlucky number, but it seems to be lucky for me.”

Another reason for the director to celebrate is because various filmmakers of who have cut the trailer in different languages have now come forward to dub the film in their respective languages. “As of now, dubbing in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam are in process. I have received tremendous response from Assamese and Marathi filmmakers, and that will be the case with Konkani and Tulu too.

The dubbing rights have already been sold to Hindi.  Since this is a universal subject, and Bengaluru being a cosmopolitan city where we have people of all languages residing, dubbing of this film will cater to all kinds of audiences,” says Ravi, adding, “The dubbed version should hopefully be out three weeks after the original release date,” he says.

Kataka, a debut venture by Ravi Basrur and produced by NS Rajkumar, is based on a true story on black magic. The film has child artiste Shlaga Saligrama and Ashok Raj playing the lead roles as and also features Bala Rajvadi and Spandana Prasad. Kataka is distributed by KRG Studios, and the cinematography is done by Sachin Basrur.
