Leopard creates panic in Mysuru locality

From our online archive

MYSURU: Residents of Gowrishankar Nagar are living in fear as they  spotted leopards many times in the last three days.
When they spotted a leopard on Sunday, they informed forest officials. The officials who rushed to the spot burst crackers and chased away the leopard.

The residents have found carcasses of calves and a pig in bushes and this created fear among them. They suspect that the leopard might have attacked the animals when it left for grazing in open field.
People who have spotted the leopard sitting on a rock on Saturday, urged Forest officials to catch the leopard at the earliest. The officials placed a cage and asked the people not to come out of houses after sunset.
