Building collapse: 2 more bodies found

BENGALURU: A day after the under-construction building collapse in Bellandur, two more bodies were recovered from under the debris on Thursday. The toll has now risen to five. The bodies were recovered at around 10 pm and have been identified as Shamshuddin (52) and Dhruv. The age of Dhruv could not be established as his body had been completely mangled.


Meanwhile rescue operations continued for the second night, with one more person feared trapped. It is suspected that it is a painter who has been missing since Wednesday.The building contractor Srinivasa Reddy. who was absconding following the accident, was nabbed by the police on Thursday morning. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the building was being constructed using sub standard materials. Police officials have lodged an FIR against the builders involved in the project.


Several families in Imperial Orchid, the apartment complex adjacent to the collapsed building, have temporarily moved out of their homes unable to bear the trauma.
