BENGALURU: CHIEF Minister Siddaramaiah will launch Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s (BMTC) much delayed smart card on Saturday.
In June 2016, BMTC along with Axis Bank unveiled the country’s ‘first contactless travel smart card’, which allows cashless payment for passengers by tapping the card on electronic ticketing devices.

Express on June 5 carried a report ‘BMTC’s smart card plan still a non-starter’ about nearly a year-old delay of the transport utility’s cashless plan. Smart cards will be available for 100 passengers travelling on AC Volvo buses on 335-E route (Kempegowda Bus Station to Kadugodi) on a pilot basis.
Changes in bus schedules

In connection with the chief minister’s smart card inauguration programme at Kempegowda Bus Station, BMTC has made temporary changes for buses scheduled to depart from some bus bays on Saturday.   The function will be held at the terminus in bus bay no.  1 and 2 at 10 am.

Buses departing from bay 1 (towards Kadugodi, Attibele) will be shifted to the bay 3 and operated from platform no. 14,15, 16 and 17. Buses departing from bay 2 (towards Okalipuram, Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram, Maharani’s College) will be shifted to KSRTC Bus Station (Terminal-2), portico (Hassan, Chikkamagalur platforms).
