HYDERABAD: There was a time when the maximum domestic tourists visiting Tamil Nadu were from Hyderabad, say officials from Tamil Nadu Tourism, who say any tour package would be dominated by people from the Telugu States.
However, this has changed in the last couple of years, where there has been, at least a 20% fall in the number of tourists from here.
“We noticed that many tourists are opting for overseas tours. In any tour package, if there are 35 seats, 25 would be from the Hyderabad and other Telugu districts. Now, there are hardly any. To revive this, we are conducting a road show, to partner with travel stakeholders in the city,” informed Thiru Venugopal, deputy director, Tamil Nadu Tourism.
The objective is to increase the number of tourists to TN, as there is scope for a lot of business for both states, he added.
