Decided. Will go: Jacob Thomas

‘I am not bothered about any of these allegations’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jacob Thomas, who on Tuesday offered to step down as the Vigilance Director, told Express on Wednesday  that he was firm on his decision to move away from the post and it   was not taken because allegations of  corruption were raised against him...

No way. Stay: Govt

Despite Jacob Thomas offering to quit as the Vigilance chief, the Left Government and the CPM leadership want to retain him. The Cabinet did not take a decision in this regard on Wednesday, leaving the task to the Chief Minister.

Jacob Thomas made it clear that the decision to opt out of VACB was not taken after corruption charges were levelled against him. “My decision to quit is not based on any allegations. In fact, I had faced more grave  allegations in the past. So, I am not bothered about any of these allegations. In the letter  handed over to Nalini Netto, I had only cited personal reasons,” he said. He also criticised the media. “Nowadays, media is also getting support from certain corrupt forces. Media as a line of defence is a thing of the past now. This should change,” he said.
