KOZHIKODE : K K Sreejith, uncle of Jishnu Pranoy, was reportedly expelled from CPM on Monday. Sreejith was a member of the CPM Valayam Vannarkandi branch committee and the decision to expel him from the party was taken by the branch committee citing his anti-party and anti-government activities.

However, the CPM Kozhikode district leadership feigned ignorance on the development saying they had not received any communication in this regard from the branch and state committees.

Sreejith said the party had not sought an explanation from him before taking the decision and he had not received any communication in this regard.

Sreejith, along with Jishnu’s mother Mahija, has been spearheading the campaign seeking arrest of the accused in Jishnu case. There were rumours the party was likely to take action against Sreejith for creating an awkward situation for the CPM and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

“Yesterday party general secretary Sitaram Yechury spoke to me over phone. Today senior leaders including politburo members M A Baby met me and extended their support.

If I was involved in any anti-party activity, they wouldn’t have extended their support. I have not sought any permission from the party as it was a personal issue,” Sreejith said.
