Probe officer holds talks with DHS over Murugan’s death

KOLLAM: District Crime Branch ACP A Asokan, who has the supervisory charge of the case in which a migrant labourer lost his life following the negligence from the part of hospitals, held discussions with Director of Health Services Saritha R L on Monday. According to sources, the ACP met various department heads and discussed in detail about Murugan’s death who was allegedly denied treatment by five hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts. At the same time, there were also reports the ACP had asked the Health Director to provide a copy of its inquiry report, which is scheduled to be submitted to the government on Wednesday. 


It was on the other day that the government appoint a three member expert committee lead by Saritha to investigate the incident and come out with recommendations to prevent like incidents in the future. 
Meanwhile, the family of Murugan is planning to meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday. It is said the family will demand action against the hospitals concerned which denied treatment to Murugan. They will also raise the demand for compensation from the said hospitals whose criminal negligence resulted in the death of the sole breadwinner of a family.
