Two with extremist links held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram unit of the Military Intelligence (MI) has arrested two persons suspected of having links with North-East extremists. The arrested are Upan Basumatry and his co-worker. According to MI officers, the two were arrested from Sidhanayakan Palayam in Coimbatore on Thursday around 10 pm.

The MI said the arrested have links with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland. The duo was taken into custody from a private factory at Pappampatti Pirivu. While Basumatry was quizzed on his role in the armed rebellion, his co-worker was interrogated about his brother. The NIA officers will interrogate them.
