Justice V Khalid passes away

KANNUR: Retd justice V Khalid (95), who served as a judge in the Supreme Court and Kerala High Court,  passed away here on  Wednesday.  He served as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir for a brief  period in 1983.

The burial was held at the City Juma Masjid on Wednesday.  He is survived by wife Rabiya and daughter Tahira. Justice Khalid had his moment of history when the three-member bench in which he was a member, pronounced the verdict in the famous Shah Bano case.  He was also a member of the bench which pronounced the verdict in Indira Gandhi assassination case.
