THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  In a novel initiative, the DYFI has launched a unit that includes transgender persons. The launch of the unit comes in the wake of the DYFI national conference’s decision that transgender people should be included in the youth outfit.  Transgender Justice Board member Surya Abhilash has been chosen president of the newly launched PMG unit which falls under the Palayam block in Thiruvananthapuram district. The other office-bearers are: Sandhya Rajesh and Asma (vice- presidents), Shyama S Prabha (secretary), Keerthi and Vaishnavi (joint- secretaries). Achu, Diya, Abhi, Diya and Sana have been nominated to the unit executive, a release from the DYFI said. The membership drive for the unit was launched by DYFI state vice-president I Saju.
