KOCHI: The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has started the trial run between Palarivattom and Maharaja’s College stations of Kochi Metro on Friday from 10:50 am.The trial started with a speed limit of 10km/ph and increased the speed further from the second run onwards by 10 km/ph in each run and reached the maximum speed limit of 80km/ph which is the maximum speed of the train planned for this stretch.

“The trials continued till 8 pm in both up and down tracks and it will restart tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 7am. Ten rides have been completed till 5 pm on Friday,” a release said.KMRL MD Elias George, director (Projects) KMRL Thiruman Archunan, project director (DMRC) Dani Thomas and other senior officials from KMRL and DMRC attended the first trial run. 


Rolling stock and track test will be done during the initial trials. A compatibility test will also be done as part of this trial run in the non-passenger timings at Palarivattom stretch. The trail run will be completed on 16th early morning with a quality check of train ride and modern instrumentation. After the trial run the further finishing works will be done and go for the approval.
