Court moved to resume probe against Swami

The CBI probing the case against Swami Raghavendra Tirtha, former deputy pontiff of Sri Kashi Math Samsthan, on Tuesday filed a report before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on the arrest of Swami in Andhra Pradesh.

KOCHI: The CBI probing the case against Swami Raghavendra Tirtha, former deputy pontiff of Sri Kashi Math Samsthan, on Tuesday filed a report before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on the arrest of Swami in Andhra Pradesh. 


The CBI also sought the court’s permission  to initiate further proceedings in the case. The CBI counsel said since the stay imposed by the High Court on the probe had ended on Monday, the proceedings could be continued. 


During the probe, the agency had recovered the mobile phone and digital tablets of Swami. It also initiated proceedings to freeze the properties owned by Swami.The court, which asked the CBI to file an affidavit stating that the High Court stay had ended, will consider the case again on Thursday.
