CISF at Cochin airport labelled the best in the country

KOCHI:  The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), which sports many feathers in its cap like being the pioneer in building PPP model airport and becoming the first solarpowered airport in the world, has one more reason to cheer. The passenger feedback survey- 2017 conducted by CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) among air-passengers in eight major Indian airports has pegged the services of CISF personnel deployed at CIAL as the best in comparison to the other airports. CISF, which looks after the security of 59 Indian airports, recently conducted the survey with the purpose of making air travel safer and comfortable for passengers.

Over 3.3 lakh passengers were surveyed at the Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Kolkata and Guwahati airports. The passengers placed CISF at CIAL at the top with 4.92 points out of 5, followed by Mumbai and Bengaluru. Delhi airport was placed at the 4th position. Almost 99 per cent of passengers surveyed felt services of CISF was ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’. Ninety-four per cent passengers felt it was ‘excellent’.

The performance of security services rendered by CISF were assessed on parameters such as feeling of being safe and secure, waiting time during security inspections, thoroughness of security inspections and courtesy and attitude to help. CIAL secured first in all four parameters. The results also revealed the passengers overwhelmingly appreciated the security system at CIAL where it secured 4.93 point out of 5. “The in- house analysis conducted in October helped us in finding ways to improve our services.

We will soon hire a professional group to analyse it,” said CISF director general O P Singh. CIAL managing director V J Kurian said the CISF Kochi unit was doing a commendable job in ensuring passenger security. “As per CISF’s request, CIAL arranged a high-end BDDS system which includes threat containment vessels and robots. They are utilizing all this with high efficacy which is appreciable,” said Kurian.
