KOCHI: Saukhyam Charitable Trust, an initiative of Hibi Eden MLA, was launched at the Ernakulam General Hospital on Wednesday. The social endeavour, aimed at uplifting various social sections, was launched by handing over a cheque for `3.6 lakh to oncologist Dr V P Gangadharan for starting night-shift dialysis unit at the hospital.
“We have been undertaking this social endeavour for six years. Now we are formally launching it as a trust so more people will be benefitted and it will also give individuals a platform to volunteer,” said Commodore M R Ajayakumar, Former Commanding Officer, Kochi Naval Base.
“Our prime focus is on health and education,” said Hibi. “In future, we hope to devise special programmes focused on housing, widow rehabilitation and single girl child education.”
Actor Asif Ali, former DMO Dr M I Junaid Rahman, Novelty Clothings MD E P George, M/s Ramachandran and Associates Chartered Accountants partner Renjith Warrier were among the dignitaries.
