Metro reach II set to receive green light

KOCHI: The final inspection of Kochi Metro’s Reach II from Palarivattom to Maharaja’s College station by the team headed by Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) K M Manoharan  began on Monday. 
The team carried out a thorough inspection of the technical and safety aspects at the first station as well as the facilities and accessibility for passengers. The inspection began by 9.30 am and the assessment got over by 4 pm. Later the team proceeded on a trolly from the stadium to the MG Road station. 


The stations till MG Road were also inspected by the CMRS team. On Tuesday, the inspection will start from MG Road at 9 am and continue through viaduct to the Maharaja’s station.  This will be followed by dynamic trials and visit to the Operation Control Centre at Muttom.  After obtaining the CMRS’ clearance, the Metro’s operations will be extended till Maharaja’s College on October 3.Earlier, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) MD Elias George received the team at the JNI Stadium station.  Praveen Goyal, Director (Systems), KMRL; Thiruman Archunan, Director (Projects), KMRL;  Dani Thomas, Project Director DMRC and other senior officers were present during the inspection.
