CUTTACK’S Grantha Mandir will be bringing out the complete works of two major writers, Manoj Das and Shantanu Acharya.

The Manoj Srujani Samagra comprises the complete works of Manoj Das.

The publishing house has planned a fat tome of more than 1,000 pages. The single-volume book will present more than 100 short stories of Das.

The same publisher’s Pachas Barshara Galpa Fasala presents the complete works of Shantanu Acharya, who is among Orissa’s first names in literature. This too is to be published in a single volume, and is sure to be welcomed by lovers of Acharya’s work since its spans 50 years of his career.

Sabudine Sepakhe, also to be brought out by Grantha Mandir, is the latest collection of poems by Ramakanta Rath, who is one of the celebrated Oriya poets of our time. The new collection will present about 80 of his unpublished poems. The book is expected to hit the stands in the early part of the year.

Friends Publishers, Cuttack, plans to bring out Dr Hrushikesh Panda’s Garba Karibara Katha. This is an epic novel that spans 500 years of Orissa’s history and society, one of the most ambitious projects attempted yet. The book reportedly gives a historical perspective of the state. Also by Friends Publishers is Kabitare Bishwa, a collection of Nobel Prize-winning poems translated by Niranjan Padhi, a retired bureaucrat.

The single volume comprises poems from 62 countries and it is likely to hit the stands this month itself.

Athena Books of Bhubaneswar intends to publish Rama Lila by Kalpataru Das. Other publishers too have their plans, so people in Orissa can look forward to a varied feast of works in the year that has begun.
