NEW DELHI: Twenty-five interviews of politicians, who appeared on veteran journalist Shekhar Gupta's "Walk The Talk" TV show, are now available in print format. "Walk The Talk – Decoding Politicians" features transcriptions of Gupta's free-wheeling interviews with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he was the Gujarat chief minister in 2004, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the same year.
The book, by Rupa Publications, has Gupta's candid conversations with a range of politicians, both from India as well as outside, from the show, which is running uninterrupted for 14 years now, and has hosted around 600 stellar guests from various walks of life. It brings in print the transcriptions of popular interviews of political icons like L K Advani, M Karunanidhi, Mayawati, Jyoti Basu, former prime ministers P V Narsimha Rao and Manmohan Singh, former President Pranab Mukherjee and former RSS chief K S Sudarshan. "It was challenging to choose just twenty-five political personalities and voices to feature in this selection. And one criterion has been to try and pick those conversations that mark political shifts and change.
Hopefully, these will help provide an understanding of recent political history, and how we have reached here, in the words of these very significant and interesting people," Gupta says in the book. Among global thought leaders and heads of states who have made into the list of select 25 are David Cameron, Nawaz Sharif, Henry Kissinger and Nepal's Pushp Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
