Gem of a therapy for mind and body

Gemstones not only make for exquisite accessories, but they have also long been known for their healing properties, and their ability to hold and channelise energies.

According to an old saying, everything old is new again. This is certainly true when it comes to spa treatments. For centuries, people have ascribed various powers to gemstones, and now in spas across the country, new treatments try to tap into their beneficial powers.

Gemstones not only make for exquisite accessories, but they have also long been known for their healing properties, and their ability to hold and channelise energies.

Gemstone therapy or crystal healing has been around for centuries and is used to balance the vital energy centres in the body.

Aura at The Park, Hyderabad, offers an array of gem therapy treatments. The spa’s gem therapy treatments are inspired by the natural healing elements of gems. Gemstones like Topaz, Obsidian, Carnelian, Jade are used to do body massage and facial.

The theory is that gemstones carry vibrational rates. D A Mawii, therapist at the spa, says, “By placing these vibrational rates within your aura — your aura’s vibrational rates also change and ‘reset’ themselves back to their correct state.”

Each therapy room is named after different stones found in the mines of Hyderabad. The seven therapy rooms — The Great Mughal Diamond, Darya-i-noor Diamond, Berooz, Firoza, Lulu, Larli and Zamarrud — narrate the six principal values of human life associated with Indian culture. The colours that adorn the therapy walls — royal blue, yellow, emerald green, red and light purple — help you strike the right balance between the external world and the inner to ensure complete well-being. The colour blue stands for Shiva, who symbolises truth and shakti that means power. Yellow represents gyan meaning wisdom and Samridhi connotes prosperity. Red symbolises love and passion. Purple is the colour of beauty and emerald green epitomises coexistence of all the aforementioned values. All these colours together create the colour of the heart, which stands for the state of ‘Ananda’.

The wet area in the spa is adorned with two Amethyst steam rooms, which aid in maintaining a pure and positive atmosphere while detoxifying the body and strengthening immunity.

The menu is designed to address the body constitution of a person on the lines of the ancient panchaboothas or five elements, namely earth, fire, wind, water and ether.

A very unique aspect about Aura spas is that none of them will be identical in nature. The service standards will, however, be maintained across all the spas though each of them will have a local/regional flavour to offer a distinctive experience to the patrons.
