NEW DELHI: Surprised on why, despite all your hard work, you are not able to lose that bit of weight?

Are you among those who crave to order junk delicacies between 11 am and 6 pm time? Well, you need to take a smart approach when it comes to snacking healthy. Munching all day, particularly on food with little nutrition, could result in eating too much and packing on extra kilos.

A healthy snack between meals can also decrease your hunger and keep you from overeating at meal time.

Nidhi Pant, co-founder of DesiVDesi Foods, shed some light on the importance of snacking right and more importantly, snacking healthy.

“When you choose a snack that is packed with vitamins, minerals and protein, your hunger will be satiated and stomach satisfied, keeping you on a healthy eating track and leading you to make the healthier choices later in the day”, Pant explained.

Although snacking is a great way to avoid overeating at main meals and keep your body fuelled, the main traps we fall into often have negative consequences on our weight maintenance or weight loss goals. Hence, when in doubt, have protein. This nutrient is a hunger-busting powerhouse because it slows digestion and keeps blood sugar steady while helping keep those cravings at bay.

But how can one curb that 5-6pm craving and not give in to the very tempting cheese sandwich, sev puri and other junk? Nidhi has a clever solution for that.

“Stock up with some on-the-go, healthy and tasty options to keep your at your desk or carry in your bag. This will help you steer clear of those unhealthy and tempting food choices. When you have a healthy snack within an arm’s reach, you won’t even be taunted by temptation,” she said.
