'Call of Duty: Black Ops 2' grosses $500 million in a day

Rtt News

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" raked in more than $500 million in sales in only 24 hours after its release. This mark eclipses the "Call of Duty" franchise's previous record of $400 million, which was set by "Modern Warfare 3" last year.

Gamemaker Activision said that this marks the largest entertainment launch of the year, which includes music, movie, and games. Furthermore, this is the fourth consecutive year in which the company could make that claim.

"Call of Duty has become more than a product people buy, it's a brand people buy into. And every November we do more than just the launch of a game, we kick off an annual, unofficial but worldwide phenomenon called the Call of Duty season," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" is available on all game consoles.
