There is a place in Arunachal Pradesh where the past, present and future are rolled into one. On the treacherous heights of the Sela pass on the Indo-China border stands Jaswantgarh, a temple-like memorial with a bronze bust of Rifleman Jaswant Singh, a martyr of the 1962 Indo-China war. For many, Baba Jaswant Singh lives on. He has caretakers from 19 Garhwal Corps of the Army who still serve him breakfast, lunch, dinner and religiously polish his shoes as they would do for any other official serving the country.
