Saregama: Musical Pair

In India, Saregama is not just another music label. For millions of music lovers, it has been the perfect destination for all kinds of music. From Hindi songs to regional numbers, Saregama—previously known as His Master’s Voice (HMV)—started its journey in 1901 as the overseas branch of London-based Electrical & Musical Industries Limited (EMI).

In 1985, the RPG Group took over the company and changed its name to Saregama India in 2000. Saregama has reported a net income of `186.53 crore in this financial year. The company, now owned by R P Sanjiv Goenka Group, has gone online to expand its business with nearly 1.2 lakh songs digitised in its library.
