Ramkumar Ramanathan, 20

The Chennai lad has time and again proven his mettle. He hogged the limelight last year, when he qualified for the main draw of the Chennai Open and then went on to beat India No. 1 Somdev Devvarman in the first round. After that, he was picked as the reserve for India’s Davis Cup match against Serbia. Even though he has been a bit inconsistent, Ramkumar is working hard in Spain under the watchful eyes of coach Juan Balcells.

Pranjala Yadlapalli, 16

She became the only Indian female player to have made it to the main draw of the Wimbledon junior championships this year. In the past three years, her ITF world ranking has jumped from around 1,200 to 19 at present. This youngster is definitely one for the future.

The youngster booked a berth at the UK National Finals to be held in August, with fine showings during the Road to Wimbledon swing. Later, she was also part of the team that qualified for the prestigious World Junior Tennis Finals to be held in Czech Republic from August 3-8.
