GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday said he would file a defamation suit against opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders Chandra Mohan Patowary and Prafullah Kumar Mahanta and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) secretary Akhil Gogoi.  The move follows their allegations that he was directly involved in the alleged multi-crore rupees financial scam  in Dima Hasao District Autonomous  Council.

“I have today (Tuesday) decided to file a defamation suit against them. I didn’t have any intention to move court but they have forced me. However, they will get an opportunity to substantiate their allegations in the court,” Gogoi said.

The Chief Minister also wondered as to how the AGP and the KMSS got hold of the CAG report on the financial scam.
