NEW DELHI: As a Christmas gift, the Centre has approved empanelment of the 1991-batch IAS officers as the Joint Secretaries in the Government of India. The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by PM Manmohan Singh. Altogether 52 officers would get benefit from the decision. These officers are presently working as Directors in various Ministries.  

Kerala cadre officers A Jayathilak, Ishita Roy and Rachna Shah would be benefited.  Two Karnataka cadre IAS officers, including V Vidyavathi, a Director in the PM’s Office, would be benefited. In view of her promotion as the Joint Secretary, she is likely to be moved out of the PMO to join a Union Ministry as the Joint Secretary.  Another officer from Karnataka cadre is L K Atheeq.

The decision would benefit four from TN cadre -- T K Ramachandran, N Muruganandam, Supriya Sahu and Shambhu Kallolikar. It would also benefit 8  officers from Andhra Pradesh cadre.
