MUMBAI: The Peddar Road residents, who have been opposing the proposed project to construct India’s first cinema museum in their neighbourhood, have got a shot in the arm as the High Court questioned the need for such a museum and that too in a congested area. Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Ranjit expressed concern over the possible problems that might arise if the museum was put in place on Peddar Road, which had a high density of traffic flow. The petitioners, four housing societies of Peddar Road, have contented that close to 1.5 lakh vehicles ply on the road and over 1,000 visitors are expected at the museum.
The court wanted to know from the government why it was unable to find a spacious place with more parking space and less traffic.The residents suggested that the museum should be shifted to the Film City premises in Goregaon.
