Sarpanch rules against mid-day meal after lizard found in food

The sarpanch of Lohagarh here has said that students from his village would no longer take part in the midday meal scheme at the government secondary school after a lizard was found in the food cooked there.

Taking serious note of yesterday's episode at the school, sarpanch Charan Singh took the decision following which no midday meal was served at the school today.

The scheme, however, continued as normal in other schools in the area.

Meanwhile, the state education department has written to Iskcon Food Relief Foundation seeking a reply within two days over the unsavoury discovery yesterday in the food at the school, a government official said.

The above foundation was responsible for serving food at the school as part of the midday meal scheme.
