Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay, injured in a fight with another inmate in a Jammu jail, has developed jaundice and his condition is ‘extremely critical’.
“The condition of Sanaullah is extremely critical and he has developed jaundice,” said a medical bulletin issued by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research on Tuesday.
The bulletin stated that “the patient continues to be febrile. The metabolic parameters are almost the same. His oxygen requirement has increased to 80 per cent to maintain the arterial oxygen at the minimal desired level.”
“His X-ray (chest) shows bilateral pulmonary infiltrates. Neurologically he continues to be the same,” it said. Meanwhile, two members of his family -- brother-in-law Mohammed Sehzaad and nephew Mohammed Asif -- on Tuesday visited him and demanded that he should be send back to Pakistan. The relatives, who are on a 15-day visa, were received by the officials of Pakistan High Commission at Attari border on Tuesday morning. They were brought to Chandigarh by road under police protection.
After the visit at the hospital, the relatives of Sanaullah demanded the Indian Government to release him so that they could take him back to Pakistan for better treatment. “We condemn the attack on Sarabjit Singh in Lahore jail,” they said.
Pakistan on Tuesday advised its citizens travelling to India to exercise “due caution” following reports that their security “may be in jeopardy”. “We advise its citizens who are planning to travel to India to exercise due caution and care while travelling to various parts of India,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
