Kochi Metro Rail crosses a milestone

A crucial agreement was signed on Thursday between the the KMRL and the DMRC for executing the Kochi Metro project.

The KMRL would appoint independent safety and quality auditors to ensure quality and safety of the project execution. KMRL will recruit and depute up to 30 per cent of the required project execution stand to the DMRC project execution team and this staff would work under the administrative and technical control of DMRC during the execution of the project.  “By the end of the first phase, the staff recruited by us would be trained in execution  work of metro projects, so that they can take charge of the second phase,” George said.  A project steering committee, comprising the KMRL MD and one director each from DMRC and  KMRL would be set up to review the progress of project work and for settling issues and disputes related to work.
