Himachal Pradesh Police is set to launch a website to list the names of sex offenders, first of this kind in the country.

Himachal Pradesh Police Inspector General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kundu said: “The police will maintain a register of sexual offenders and their names will be displayed on its official website. A decision in this regard was taken yesterday (Tuesday) at a meeting chaired by Director General of Police B Kamal Kumar.”

“It was also decided at the meeting that gender-sensitisation training would be organised for all the police personnel. We will probably make Himachal the first state to adopt a standard procedure to deal with crime against women in the country, after the US and UK,” he said.
