UP announces Rs 2 lakh relief for MP temple stampede victims

Uttar Pradesh government  announced a compensation of Rs two lakh each to the kin of the pilgrims from the state who died in stampede during Navratri festivities near a temple in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district.

Expressing grief over the death of the pilgrims, who hailed from the state, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced the financial assistance, an official said.

He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured, the official added.

At least 115 were killed and scores injured in a stampede during Navratri festivities near Ratangarh Mata Temple in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district on Sunday.
