SRINAGAR: A fierce gunfight broke out between separatist guerrillas and the army Friday after the militants attacked an army camp in a border town of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.

A senior police officer said guerrillas attacked an army camp at Mohra near Uri border town early Friday.

"Militants attacked a field ordnance camp of the army at Mohra (Uri) early today (Friday) morning," the officer told IANS here.

"A group of two to three militants are believed to have entered the camp where intense firing is going on," the officer added.

He said the militants also fired at the guards of local police officers who rushed to the spot after hearing gun shots.

There are reports of a fire from the camp but fire tenders are unable to go inside because of the ongoing gun battle.
