Hearing in Case against DRDO Official Deferred

Express News Service

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday deferred the hearing of a case against a DRDO official seeking action against him for objecting to the elite organisation’s silver chariot project as no representative of the DRDO or Ministry of Defence was present.

The official’s advocate Nikhilesh Pote said the court had not yet received a Belif’s report on whether the DRDO and Defence Secretary had received the notices issued by the court in November. “The HC will decide a date for the next hearing soon,” Pote said.  According to the official procedure, a Belif has to serve the notices to the respondents and submit a report to the HC on his action. The HC has not yet received the report.

Express had reported that the DRDO, which is engaged in developing defence equipment, had designed a silver chariot at a cost of `5 crore.

An official with the DRDO was transferred after he took objection to the silver chariot saying it was not the organisation’s job to design it.
