Court Process Against Rahul in RSS Case

Express News Service

MUMBAI: A First Class Magistrate court in Bhiwandi near here on Friday issued process against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case filed by the RSS. He needs to appear before the court on October 7. RSS official Rajesh Kunte had filed a defamation case against Rahul for his election speech on March 6 in Bhiwandi during which he said, “Gandhiji was killed by the RSS people.”

The magistrate court had asked officials of the Election Commission and the local police to file a report on the speech. The commission submitted a CD of Rahul’s speech, while the local police reported that the Congress leader had indeed made the statement.

“The court’s action vindicates my client’s claim that Rahul had defamed the RSS through his statement. The court will hear the case on October 7. Rahul will need to be present before the court at that time,” said Ganesh Dhargalkar, a lawyer who is representing Kunte.
