Raha Takes over as COSC Chairman

NEW DELHI: IAF chief Arup Raha on Wednesday took over as Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC), the senior most armed forces officer in the country, from Army chief General Bikram Singh, who retires from service on Thursday.And the outgoing COSC handed over the baton of the Chairman, COSC to Air Chief Marshal Raha to mark the taking over by the latter at a  ceremony held at South Block.

Naval chief Rabindra Dhowan and other principal staff officers from the three armed forces and the Integrated Defence Staff Headquarters were present on the occasion. Raha had taken over as IAF chief on January one and he is now senior most among the three Service chiefs and would act as the first among equals in tri-service coordination.
