Two youths including a police constable allegedly attempted to rape a woman at gunpoint near Baghra area here, police said today.
The duo entered into the victim's house and tried to rape her at gunpoint yesterday but she escaped from their clutches, following which they were arrested, police said.
The accused were identified as Vikul, a police constable posted at Hardoi district and one Udhister. A pistol was recovered from them and a departmental action on the accused cop has been ordered, they said.
In another incident a 15-year old girl identified as Azra was shot dead by unidentified people while she was sleeping in her house at Basi Kala village in the district yesterday, police said.
The body of the victim has been sent for postmortem and police is further investigating the issue, they said. PTI CORR AJR GJS 03191404
