Pakistani Opposition Leader Imran Khan Calls on PM Modi

Express News Service

NEW DELHI: Pakistani opposition leader and former cricketer Imran Khan on Friday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“At his request, Pakistan MP & Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf Party Imran Khan called on PM @narendramodi today,” External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted Friday evening. Earlier, PTI leaders tweeted that Modi had requested the meeting.

Khan has been accused of being an apologist for the Pakistan Taliban. He has shared a dais with Hafiz Saeed, wanted for planning the 26/11 attacks.

Khan was supportive of the sea-change in relations. “They welcomed recent developments in bilateral relations...,” said Swarup. Khan also invited Modi to Pakistan, he added.
