JIND: In a state which has a very poor sex ratio, a man organised a mega feast today for residents of five villages to celebrate the birth of his granddaughter.

Ramesh, a resident of Jayjayvanti village here, organised the feast for the villagers where a DJ played hit songs and a religious ceremony was also held.

Ramesh said, "We are very happy that the first child of my son Sandeep is a girl. In these days, there is no difference between boys and girls."

He claimed that he will bring up her well and said daughters take care of their parents better than the sons.

Praising the celebration on the birth of a girl child, Savita, Sarpanch of the village, said that the locals are bringing awareness about female foeticide among residents of other villages.

While, Rajesh, a Panchayat member, said that the village had earlier won the first prize in the district for better sex ratio.
