Kejri at Lords Abode, Kiran Bedi Rolls Roti

Express News Service

NEW DELHI:A day before Delhi was to decide their fate, two former comrades-turned-rivals -- AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and BJP CM candidate Kiran Bedi -- on Friday sought divine blessings for their electoral battle. Both of them visited religious places on Friday as the campaign for the high-decibel  battle ended on Thursday.

As cameras followed them wherever they went, their last-minute effort to seek spiritual intervention was also aimed at catching the eyeballs.

Kejriwal visited gurudwaras, temple, church and even a Sufi Mazar, while Bedi went to a gurdwara in her constituency Krishna Nagar where she was seen rolling chapattis for community kitchen.

Finding new ways to d-stress himself after a hectic month-long campaign, Kejriwal in the morning was seen doing yoga and after that went for a haircut. Around noon, the former CM went to the Rakab Ganj Sahib Gurudwara and then to the nearby Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. After offering his prayers at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Kejriwal said: “I am happy and confident that we are forming the government in Delhi... I have full faith in the almighty.”

Bedi was seen doing her bit in langar (common kitchen) where food is served to devotees.

“I have done my part, it’s up to god now. I am not doing it for the first time. I used to visit gurdwaras in Amritsar when I was a child,” Bedi said. Later, she joined her party’s central leadership during a press conference.

In the evening, the former IPS officer boarded the busy Delhi metro to catch office crowd. Bedi, surrounded by an excited crowd, said, “I will survey the Metro unannounced, we used to do that before. Crime on the move needs to be monitored”.
