The top four slots in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examinations have been earned by women.
Ira Singhal topped the examination followed by Renu Raj, Nidhi Gupta and Vandana Rao, who have secured second, third and fourth positions respectively, according to the results announced by UPSC today.

Ira Singhal

From 815 rank in 2010 to topping UPSC in 2015, Ira has beaten locomotor disability that she suffers from to achieve this feat.
“I expected to do very well but dint expect to top it," said Singhal who faced trouble due to her 'disabilities.' According to reports, the Revenue Department refused to accept her following her allotment to the Indian Revenue Service in 2010, citing her 'inability to pushing, pulling and lifting.'
Ira Singhal, an Indian Revenue Service officer who has topped the prestigious civil services examination, says she hopes that her feat will inspire people to have a different perspective when looking at girls, especially the differently-abled ones.
Renu Raj
(Second Rank)
Renu, is a graduate in medicine, said that her ambition was to qualify in the Civil Services examinations. She had joined for training at Civil Service academy at Thiruvananthapuram just six months prior to prelims. She could come out in the flying colours in the first attempt.

She also said that her family was very supportive and it was her parents who had motivated her since her school days.
Nidhi Gupta
(Third Rank)
Nidhi is presently Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise.
Third rank holder Nidhi said that it was a proud moment for her to get selected in the examination. "It is really a proud moment. I put in lot of hard work and finally it paid," she said.
Vandana Rao
(Fourth Rank)
Vandana Rao, got the fourth rank, is the topper in the Other Backward Class (OBC) category. "I called up people twice to cross check whether or not I have made it in the exam. It is a pleasant surprise. It is really a result of hard work," she said.
Vandana graduated in 2012 and now aspires to be an IAS officer. "I want to be an IAS officer as it gives you ample scope to do something worthwhile for the country," she said. It was her third attempt.
