LUCKNOW: A Congress delegation today met Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and apprised him of the ground reality in the wake of the Hamirpur incident, in which a 15-year-old girl allegedly immolated herself following eve-teasing by two youths.

The delegation led by the party disciplinary committee chairman Ramkishan Dwivedi informed the Governor about the revelations of the fact-finding team sent to Hamirpur by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Nirmal Khatri, a party release issued here said. The Governor assured the leaders that he will talk to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and ask for the action taken in this connection from the state's DGP, it said.

Two villagers were killed in mob violence and police firing in Hamirpur district after a girl immolated herself on being teased by some youths last week, prompting the state government to suspend the Superintendent of Police and order magisterial inquiry.
