NEW DELHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday mentioned Mawlynnong in Meghalaya as Asia’s cleanest village. It has a toilet in every house and a waste basket on each road to keep it ‘Swachh.’ Addressing the nation in his radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi said he recently received a letter from Meghalaya Governor V  Shanmuganathan apprising him about Mawlynnong. “This village had received “Asia’s Cleanest Village Award” few years back and I felt very happy that a village in northeast has dedicated itself for cleanliness. Cleanliness is now in the ‘Sanskar’ of Mawlynnong residents,” he said.
