Online Desk

The Modi government is set to inform the Supreme Court today that they will ban commercial surrogacy soon. They will not permit any foreigners to have children through surrogate mothers in India.

According to reports, the decision came after a top-level meeting where the centre deputed solicitor general Ranjit Kumar in conveying their stance to Supreme Court.

Nevertheless, Ranjit will also clarify to the court that surrogacy will still exist for childless Indian couples. Another decision has been taken from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to withdraw its notification given in 2013, permitting free imports of human embryo to India for artificial reproduction.
